Most cases of rabbit puberty are fairly mild, only involving small amounts of acne and a slight lengthening of the front teeth. More severe cases, like the one pictured above, result in the rabbit being banished from the rabbit community. In many situations, this leads to exiled pubescent rabbits attempting to join human society. The most successful example of this was “Harrison Egbert Barnberg,†a rabbit who became mayor of Stockton, California from 1886–1892. His actual identity was only revealed after his passing, when his children allowed their startling long, white ears to be seen at his funeral.
